The Nigerian Army has denied social media reports of the alleged killing of five soldiers and workers by Boko Haram Terrorists during repairs of an electricity facility along Maiduguri- Damaturu road in Borno State.
Colonel Ado Isa, Deputy Director Army Public Relations described the report as “Fake, misleading, and capable of undermining the counter-insurgency campaign.”
He said, “Contrary to the rumours making the rounds, nobody was attacked on the route as the road was cleared for the maiden visitation of the Chief of Army Staff, General Ibrahim Attahiru who visited troops of Special Army Super Camp Ngamdu.
“No work took place on the TCN facility as the workers were asked not to go to the site because our troops who were supposed to provide the escort were assigned to other patrols in preparation for the COAS’ visit.
“To this end, the Nigerian Army wishes to unequivocally state that the claims contained in the disjointed reports on Nigerian troops are nothing but fake, malicious and frivolous aimed as causing unnecessary tension and instilling fear.
“We, therefore, request the general public to disregard them in their entirety,” he said.
