The All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council in Ojo Federal Constituency, in continuation of its stakeholders and grassroots engagements, met with the executive members and representatives of Alaba International and Alaba Rago Markets on Thursday, 2 February, 2023.

The meeting took place at two different centers in the two ends of the Alaba Market.

First meeting which was held at the Executive Lodge of the the market had in attendance representatives of the different sections of the market as well as ethnic nationalities who trade in the market.

The Director General of the Campaign Council and Chairman of Ojo Local Government, Honourable Rosulu Olusola Idowu, who led the team, expressed appreciation to the leadership of the market for taking time out of their business schedule to honour and host members of the Campaign Council.

Moving straight to the purpose of the meeting, the DG said the team deems it fit to introduce the candidates of the party to the traders and also sought for their support and vote in the coming elections.

He highlighted the qualities of each APC Candidate starting with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose pedigree speaks for itself.

Idowu said Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the best amongst all the presidential candidates and if given the opportunity, the nation would witness unprecedented developments.

Going down memory lane, he stated that due to the rapport between them and the party, the mistake made seven and a half years shouldn’t repeat itself where an opposition candidate was voted into the House of Representatives and such person hasn’t been visible ever since. He went further by stating what other House of Representatives members have done in their various constituencies. He made the traders to understand that the party’s candidate, Hon Lanre Ogunyemi, has the zeal and will to bring meaningful developments to Ojo Federal Constituency.

He also spoke about the various achievements of the Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu led administration.

Idowu stated further that the Sanwo-Olu administration has approved some inner roads for construction and rehabilitation within the Federal Constituency: Kemberi-Aka road and Abule-Adaloko road; while the construction of Ojo General Hospital is nearing completion.

He urged them to take advantage of extension for the collection of PVCs, which is the only tool needed for voting.

The party’s candidates who spoke at the event starting with Hon Lanre Ogunyemi for House of Representatives said what Ojo Federal Constituency needs is an experienced legislator and he has brought himself forward because he is articulate, competent and has the capacity to bring about the much desired change with his rich resume pledging that there would be no regrets for them if they vote for him.

Comrade Olusegun Ege, candidate for House of Assembly Ojo State Constituency I, reminded the traders of the role played by his late father in making sure that the electronics market was situated in Ojo. He assured them that as one of them, the APC government was ready to do the needful. He said he was challenged by the Governor to deliver both Wards A and K and he was sure that with the support and commitment of the traders, it will be a done deal.

Responding to the speeches made by the DG and candidates, Hon Mbonu Udochukwu Geoffrey, President General of Alaba Amalgamated International Market said the market is the biggest electronics market in West Africa.

He expressed joy at the visit of the Campaign Council members, saying there are lots of traders in the market supporting APC.

He appreciated the people of Ojo LGA for accommodating them because that is where the treasure of everyone of them lies. He praised the efforts of the government in quelling a misunderstanding that happened between the traders and the park managers seeking for more government presence in the market.

Chief Mbonu said irrespective of insinuations to the contrary, the market executives would try their best in ensuring that the APC emerges victorious in the forthcoming elections.

Chief Camilus Amajioyi, President of International Market Association, stated that though they are seeing some of the candidates for the first time, he promised the party massive votes from members of his association. He said it’s payback time for all candidates of the party.

He asked the Campaign Council members to remind the state Governor of his promises for the market which include provision of fire fighting trucks and others.

Chief Uche Ubochi, APC leader of the market, talked about his experiences with past market leaders who couldn’t keep to their words. He advised that the day’s information be diseminated to other traders.

He advised the party to set up an Igbo body, who will regularly meet and assist with door-to-door campaign. He further advised the executives of the market to caution the traders who have loose tongues. He then promised to work with the traders in achieving desired results.

The vote of thanks was done by the Secretary of the campaign council Barrister Lawal, who appreciated the traders for giving the campaign council members good reception.

At the second event held at Alaba Rago Market open space, the various leaders present assured the leadership of the Campaign Council of their unwavering support and vote. They promised to work hard and mobilize for the victory of the party and it’s candidates.

Attendance at the events include: Alh R.O Olorunfunmi, Apex Leader, Ojo Federal Constituency; the Campaign Council DG, Hon Rosulu Idowu; the Chairman of Iba LCDA, Hon Yisa Jubril; Alhaji Banire; Vice Chairman, Ojo LGA, Hon Mrs Ubochi; Party Chairman Ojo LGA, Women Leaders of Ojo, Iba and Oto-Awori Councils; SLGs of Ojo and Iba councils;
