The Lagos State Government will be diverting traffic at Marine Bridge as the Federal Government commences emergency repair works on different sections of the bridge from tomorrow, Wednesday, 29 September till Thursday, 23 December, 2021.
The state Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde explained that the repairs will be done in phases to minimize inconveniences for motorists, adding that the Ijora bound lane will be closed off to vehicular movement during the first phase and the Apapa bound lane for the second phase subsequently.
Explaining the diversion plan, the Transport Commissioner revealed that motorists heading towards Ijora axis will be diverted into a counter flow on the Apapa bound lane and vice versa when the Apapa bound lane is closed off for repairs, to reduce traffic gridlock during the course of the repairs.
Oladeinde further stated that the State’s Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA would be fully on ground to direct traffic in addition to traffic guides, which will be strategically placed to guide vehicular movement during the stipulated period.
The State Government while seeking resident’s cooperation for the successful commencement and completion of the emergency works, reiterated its continuous commitment towards the development of transport infrastructure across the metropolis, maintaining that it is vital for the Multi-Modal Transportation System of the State Government which will in turn boost the economic prowess of the citizenry.
