The Lagos State Police Command has declared wanted a prominent Mushin son and businessman linked to the ruling houses of Itire land, Mr. Abdulahi Sulaimon Olarenwaju, for alleged involvement in same sex relationship with another man.
Multiple police sources stated that Sulaimon who had been summoned several times has repeatedly failed to honour police invitations from investigators and believed to be on the run.
Same sex relationship is against Nigerian laws and attracts 14 years imprisonment upon conviction.
Our reporter gathered that trouble started for Mr. Abdulahi Sulaimon Olarenwaju when a source close to his family exposed his secrets.
Another source close to the ruling house of Itire land told our reporter that Sulaimon’s long disappearance may not be unconnected to the news of his alleged gay practice becoming public knowledge. Based upon this exposure Sulaimon was consequently declared wanted after he failed to honour Police invitation to present himself and answer some questions and clear his name.
Continuing, the source who pleaded anonymity added that “We know that Sulaimon had always exhibited his preference for male companions but no one suspected that he was living a double life.
When contacted the police confirmed that Mr. Sulaimon Olarenwaju had been invited to come forward and clear his name but he is yet to do so.
“We have left several messages with those close to him and also left a letter at his residence inviting him to come forward to clear his name but he has refused to come down to the police station. We believe he is currently on the run but we shall get him and make him face the wrath of the law,“ a Police source told our correspondent at the Mushin Area Command.
“We know there are many men like Mr. Sulaimon Olarenwaju in the society but we shall not rest until we are able to rid the state of such negative influence.
Our correspondent also learnt that the community vigilante in Mushin have been enlisted in the man hunt for Mr Sulaimon even as they vowed not to relent in their pursuit of him until he is apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law.
At the family compound of the Olarenwaju’s, a member of his family who does not want his name in prints lamented that Sulaimon Olarenwaju has brought so much shame to their respected family name and condemned gay practice in its entirety.
