The Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has commended the leadership style of Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya,  particularly in his capacity as Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, describing it as purposeful and results-driven.

Governor Mutfwang made the remarks yesterday during a courtesy visit to Governor Inuwa Yahaya, where he noted that security in Northern Nigeria remains a top priority for the Forum and an issue close to the heart of the Gombe Governor.

Governor Mutfwang further applauded Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s visionary leadership in initiating the establishment of a Secretariat for the Northern States Governors’ Forum, an unprecedented step aimed at strengthening coordination and institutional effectiveness.

“We are confident that by the first quarter of next year, the Secretariat will be fully operational to ensure a better coordination and more effective handling of issues affecting the Northern states,” he said.

According to him, resolutions reached at the last meeting of the Northern Governors in Kaduna are already being vigorously pursued, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration will yield tangible improvements in regional security.

Responding to questions on speculations surrounding possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Mutfwang smiled and remarked, “As soon as it happens, you will hear it.”

Earlier, while receiving his Plateau counterpart and the delegation, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of unity and shared commitment among Northern governors.

He acknowledged Governor Mutfwang’s support, particularly in the Northern Governors’ Forum, and stressed his resolve to continue working collectively to address common regional challenges.

The Plateau State Governor was accompanied on the visit by the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daniel Naanlong Gapyil, alongside other top government officials.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya was joined by his Deputy,  Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau,  Speaker of the House of Assembly,  Rt Hon. Abubakar Luggerewo, Deputy Speaker,  Hon. Saddam Bello, former federal lawmakers, other Hon. Members, Commissioners and senior officials.
