The Northern Youths Alliance has adopted the Member Representing, Ezza South And Ikwo Federal Constituency of Ebonyi state in the House of Representatives Rt Hon Chinedu Ogah for the Deputy Speaker of the 10th assembly
The youth group made the declaration during a media parley in Abuja weekend.
The National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Tijani Usman said the call became necessary following reports that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has zoned the office to southeast.
He mentioned that in an event that the southeast is to produce the Deputy Speaker, the most suitable man for the job is Hon. Chinedu Ogah who he explained will help stabilize the house and build cohesion in southeast to beat back agitations.
Comrade Tijani who said that Ebonyi state deserves first line charge in sharing of political position by the APC in southeast because of the magnitude of supports it has given the party.
According to him, “in the 9th assembly, Abia state produced three Principal Officers of the assembly (One in the House of Representatives and Two in the Senate) and yet was not able to give the President-elect a single delegate during the party’s convention. It is therefore noteworthy to categorically state that Abia state doesn’t deserve the office of the Deputy Speaker. Ebonyi state has continued to raise high flags in her support for the APC and thus deserves the office”
“The office of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives should not be ceded to someone that does not base in Nigeria and can’t galvanize the grassroots. It needs someone in touch with the people that can help to stabilize the house and help to bring to a halt agitations from southeast and other parts of the country”
“We are calling on the President Elect and the leadership of APC to consider Hon. Chinedu Ogah for the job. He has the requisite character, and charisma. Very loyal to a fault and will help the Asiwaju’s government to succeed”
