A civil society organization, The Group for Good Governance (TGG), has described as a huge joke, the claim by the ousted Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa that he remains the Speaker of the Assembly, reports thegazellenews.com
TGG accuses Obasa of seeing himself as above the law and state institutions, labeling him ‘Lord of Lagos’. They urge Lagosians to ignore his claim, stating that his arrogance and lies are attempts to calm his followers. TGG believes Obasa’s removal was due to his flagrant disregard for established procedures in the state assembly.
“Obasa’s impeachment has been seen as a welcome change by many, including the staff of the Lagos State House of Assembly. They have complained about his high-handedness and poor treatment of workers, including their welfare. The impeachment has also been described as a “breath of fresh air” by workers within the assembly complex.
“The fall of Obasa has been attributed to his own actions, including his ambition to become the next governor of Lagos in 2027.
“His alleged attempts to build a grassroots network across Lagos, reportedly rattled party elders and power brokers, who viewed it as a challenge to the status quo. With his impeachment, Obasa’s gubernatorial ambitions may now be on hold, if not permanently derailed,” the group said.
