Ogun State indigenes in Ghana have held the first Ogun Day Festival. The Festival was organised by Ogun sons and daughters living in the Republic of Ghana on Saturday, 24 November,2023, reports thegazellenews.com
The Acting Nigeria High Commissioner in Ghana, Ambassador Aliyu Usman who was the special guest at the event commended the vision behind the event. He said this will encourage younger ones who have not been opportuned to understand the culture of their fathers.
Thegazellenews.com’s correspondent in Accra reports that the Nigerian Envoy charged Ogun indigenes in Ghana to contribute to the economic advancement of the state. He said that Ogun state is his second home because his parent brought them to Sagamu, a prominent town in Ogun stare, noting further that he also had his Youth Service in the state.
“I know Ogun state very well, the state is blessed with rich culture and tradition. I am happy that those of you in Ghana have organised this event to further promote the state’s rich culture,” the Envoy said.
The Acting President of All Nigeria Community in Ghana, Chief Bayo Albert Asaolu in his short speech, urged Ogun indigenes in Ghana to extend investment to the state. He said whatever the situation, home is home. He told them that the government of Nigeria and that of the Ogun state have started laying solid foundation that will make investment in Nigeria thrives.
The National Leader of Ogun State in Ghana who also doubles as the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Ghana, Mr. Saheed Smith expressed appreciation to all the guests who came from Nigeria and Ghana. He said he was glad to see many traditional leaders across the state attend the event, assuring that, this being the first time, they will build on it to make quality landmark
Though the event was organised by Ogun citizens, people from other states in Nigeria were present. Chief Bolanle Akintola who is from Oyo state played a major role at the event alongside others.
