The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi has assured Lagosians of adequate measures being put in place by the leadership of the party to monitor and access the performance of council Chairmen in the state, reports thegazellenews.com
Ojelabi told reporters in Lagos on Friday, 26 December, 2025 that assessment committees have been set up to visit the councils and assess the performance of the council Chairmen.

“To whom much is given, much is expected, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has graciously increased allocations to the councils and we expect them to reciprocate this gesture by putting in place infrastructure for the people to enjoy,” Ojelabi said.
According to him, the committees put in place include elders of the party, “members of the highly referred Governance Advisory Council (GAC) are also part of this committee. You remember that they visited the immediate past administrations in the councils and made their reports known to the leadership of the party”.

Ojelabi also insisted that the party is monitoring its order that council chairmen must reside in the councils under their jurisdictions, noting that this brings governance closer to the people.
“Just imagine what happened in Lagos on Christmas day. A fire outbreak occurred at 3am and the council Chairman after calling firefighters was on ground by 4am. If he had not been living in the area, will this have happened? That’s why we insist that council Chairmen must reside within their councils.
“They must be accessible to the people because they are the closest to the people,” Ojelabi, former Chairman of the old Ojo Local Government and Otto-Awori Local Council Development Area said.
