First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has flagged off the National Community Food Bank Programme in Anambra State, completing the nationwide rollout of the initiative aimed at tackling child malnutrition.
This was disclosed via a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the First Lady, Mrs Busola Kukoyi on Thursday, 10 September, 2026 noting that the flag-off took place during her first official visit to the state, where she also inaugurated a Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI)/TETFUND ICT Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
Speaking at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Senator Tinubu described the completion of the six-zone rollout as a “mission accomplished” and expressed hope for the future of Nigerian children.
She urged political actors to set aside their differences and prioritise the welfare of Nigerians, particularly efforts to improve child nutrition across the country.
Tinubu said the South-East rollout should generate renewed interest and collaboration at all levels in addressing child malnutrition.
She commended Governor Charles Soludo and his wife for their policies and programmes, which she said reflected the governor’s progressive outlook.
At the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, the First Lady urged students to explore constructive uses of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, and join the Environment Society to develop practical solutions to environmental challenges.
She said advancing digital learning was a priority of the Renewed Hope Initiative, citing the new RHI/TETFUND ICT Experience Centre as part of efforts to promote technology-driven education.
Tinubu also flagged off the distribution of empowerment items provided by the Anambra State Government to 5,000 beneficiaries and announced a N100,000 grant for each beneficiary to support the intervention.
Governor Soludo described the partnership between the Federal Government and Anambra State as progressive, saying it was helping to build a framework that leaves no one behind.
In recognition of her contributions to national development and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Igwe Chidubem Iweka, conferred the traditional title of Ugoeze of Anambra on the First Lady.
