The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has congratulated the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election victory, describing it as a reflection of the will of God and the people of the state.
Akanbi disclosed this in a congratulatory message issued on Sunday, 16 August, 2026, where he also urged the governor to align with the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu to attract more development to Osun State.
He explained that when God speaks, he listens, and when He instructs, he bows, insisting that when He commands, he submits, describing Adeleke’s victory as a divine will of Olodumare expressed by voters through the ballots.
The monarch added that the outcome also demonstrated the growing importance of youth participation in governance and politics, noting that the victory was a pure manifestation of youthful participation and involvement in the governor’s administrative drive.
According to him, the governor was able to mobilise a dedicated group of young people who worked tirelessly to canvass support and convince voters to renew his mandate.
The Oluwo urged Adeleke to work closely with the Federal Government, stressing that such cooperation would help accelerate development across Osun State, explaining that the governor should align with the Federal Government to avoid becoming an isolated governor, since Osun needs the Federal Government to bring development to cities, towns and villages, not only the capital.
He expressed optimism that closer cooperation between the state and federal governments would attract greater dividends to the people of Osun, adding that he had strong hope that such alignment would accelerate development for the state and its people.
The monarch also called on Adeleke to strengthen his relationship with the grassroots by visiting all local government areas in the state and organising periodic meetings or summits, which he described as “Apero,” urging him to remain close to the grassroots beyond election periods.
While congratulating the governor, the Oluwo further urged him to demonstrate magnanimity in victory and govern the state without discrimination, insisting that he remains the governor of all in the state.
He prayed that Olodumare would grant Adeleke sound health and the wisdom needed to govern and develop the state.
