Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals in the state and terminated the appointments of political appointees as his first term winds down.
The affected appointees include Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants, according to a statement issued on Sunday, 27 September, 2027, by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode.
The decision, the statement said, was taken ahead of the inauguration of Oyebanji’s second term scheduled for Friday,16 October, 2026.
However, the dissolution does not affect chairmen and members of statutory boards, including the State Independent Electoral Commission, SIEC; Civil Service Commission; House of Assembly Service Commission; and Judicial Service Commission.
The governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions will also remain in place, in line with earlier directives by the Governor.
Similarly, the chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB; Local Government Service Commission; and Teaching Service Commission will remain in office, although the respective boards have been dissolved.
Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the governor are also exempted from the termination of appointments.
Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the affected political appointees for their contributions to his administration and service to the state.
