Prince Lukman Gbadegesin, one of the Oyo princes who condemned the approval of the appointment of Prince Akeem Owoade as the Alaafin of Oyo has dragged Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde to court over the development

Prince Gbadegesin in a pre-action notice by his lawyer, Adekunle Sobaloju, said the action of the Governor is illegal.

The Prince, who was earlier recommended for the position of the Alaafin, is praying the court to set aside the appointment and presentation of office tools to Owoade.

Prince Gbadegesin insisted that Governor Makinde ran foul of the Oyo State Chiefs’ Law 2000 and against the culture and tradition of the Oyo Kingdom by appointing and presenting certificate of office to Prince Owoade.

In the notice, the lawyer stated that his client is seeking “an order setting aside the purported appointment, approval of appointment and presentation of staff of office to Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as Alaafin of Oyo as it was done in violation of the provisions of the Chief’s Law of Oyo State, 2000, the Registered Alaafin Chieftaincy Declaration of 1961, unlawful, unconstitutional, invalid, null and void.”

He also called for a declaration of the court stating that he was duly appointed by the Oyo kingmakers as the right candidate to occupy the Alaafin stool.
