Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)has announced that its elective national convention will be held in Ibadan, Oyo state capital in November 2025, reports thegazellenews.com.
The national elective convention was initially scheduled to hold in August but has been moved to November.
This was disclosed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Thursday, 24 July, 2025 during the party’s 101st National Executive Committee meeting.
Ologunagba stated that the convention will now take place in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, instead of the initial venue of Kano State.
Meanwhile, the Acting PDP National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum, disclosed that most party members who had left for the coalition have started returning.
According to Damagum, those affected have started confessing that they never left the PDP but only attended a few coalition meetings.
He described the coalition as a failed political experiment. He assured that only the PDP has the structure, national reach, and legacy to lead Nigeria forward.
The acting National Chairman insisted that only the PDP has what it takes to reclaim power from the All Progressives Congress-led government in 2027.
