The Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has called on party members across the state to put the recently concluded primary elections behind them and unite for the task ahead, declaring that the party’s attention is now firmly fixed on the 2027 general elections.
Pastor Ojelabi made the call while addressing hundreds of enthusiastic youths from the Badagry Division who converged on the Lagos APC State Secretariat, Acme Road, Ikeja, for the “Thank You, Asiwaju” solidarity rally organised to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the party for deepening youth inclusion and strengthening internal democracy within the APC.
The youths, drawn from Ojo, Badagry, Ajeromi-Ifelodun and Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Areas, praised the party leadership for creating opportunities for young people and women to participate meaningfully in governance and leadership.
Speaking at the rally, Ojelabi commended the youths for their loyalty to the party and their continued support for the progressive ideals championed by President Tinubu.
He noted that while the primary elections generated healthy competition among aspirants, the exercise had been concluded and it was time for all members to work together for the success of the APC at the polls.
“The primaries have come and gone. What lies before us now is the bigger assignment of ensuring victory for our great party in the 2027 general elections. Every member, regardless of the outcome of the primaries, must remain committed to the collective interest of the APC. This is the time for reconciliation, unity and mobilisation,” Ojelabi stated.
The Lagos APC Chairman applauded the youths for recognising what he described as a landmark moment in the party’s history with the emergence of Princess Damilola Sonayon-James as the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate.
According to him, her emergence reflects the party’s commitment to youth inclusion, gender representation and the development of a new generation of leaders capable of sustaining the progressive legacy of Lagos State.
Ojelabi noted that the excitement and enthusiasm displayed by the youths at the rally demonstrated widespread acceptance of the party’s decisions and confidence in its leadership.
He urged party members who may still feel aggrieved by the outcome of the primaries to embrace reconciliation and work for the collective success of the APC.
“No individual ambition is greater than the future of our party. We must close ranks and move forward together. The APC remains one family, and victory in 2027 will require the commitment and support of every member,” he said.
The Lagos APC Chairman further called on party faithful to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and work towards securing a second term for the President.
He also urged members to rally behind the APC governorship ticket led by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State and the party’s Governorship Candidate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and his running mate, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, expressing confidence that the ticket represents competence, continuity and inclusive leadership.
The rally ended with renewed pledges from the youths to mobilise support across communities and ensure victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
