It was a gathering of political bigwigs in Lagos state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and beyond at Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA on Friday, July 18, 2025.
The roll call included: the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Kadir Obafemi Hamzat; the state Chairman of APC, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi; the Senate Majority Leader, Senator Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele, who was the special guest of honour; and Governance Advisory Council (GAC) member and Apex Leader for Mushin Federal Constituencies, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon.


Also present were other GAC members: Chief Rabiu Oluwa; former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Otunba Femi Pedro; former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Adeyemi Ikuforiji; and state APC Women Leader, Hon. Jumoke Okoya- Thomas.
Also in attendance were: member representing Mushin Federal Constituency I in the House of Representatives and former Chairman of the council, Honourable Adeyemi Alli; his counterpart from Mushin Federal Constituency II, Honourable Toyin Fayinka; the Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Senator Wasiu Sanni-Eshilokun; the Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule who was represented by her husband, Saheed; former Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Adefunmilayo Tejuoso and members of the state Executive Council.

Also present were royal fathers,Imams, clergymen and traditional worshippers from the LCDA all trooped out in drove to honour the out-going Chairman of Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala.

No doubt, Hon Rasak Ajala has transformed the LCDA into a world class municipality.
The flagship of the commissioned projects was the gigantic edifice Bola Ahmed Tinubu Legacy Building built to create a conducive working environment for the staff thereby enhancing productivity and performance.
The building houses 186 offices, a 2,500 capacity hall with soundproofing, a resource centre with e-library, a legislative chamber, a health clinic, a lounge and an electric elevator.
Other projects commissioned are: Babajide Sanwoolu football arena, a standard mini-stadium for footballers and soccer enthusiasts; and nine Solar-powered cubicles for the nine wards in the LCDA that can charge 50 devices simultaneously, where residents can charge their phones, laptops and other devices free of charge.
Over 100 roads were constructed by the Hon.Ajala’s administration including the newly commissioned 9.2km road. He also gave out 13 vehicles to accredited stakeholders in the LCDA.

In his address, the council boss said his administration has fulfilled campaign promises over the past eight years in various areas of development including infrastructure development, social interventions, sports, women and youth development, education and capacity building, health and environment as well as security and governance.
“We have also launched the Odiolowo/Ojuwoye Transportation and environmental corps, OTEC to maintain a clean environment and enforce traffic rules. With the employment of road managers and traffic corps,we are confident of a cleaner and more motorable experience for our people. The procurement of two compactors will enhance waste disposal and management, potentially generating income through recycling. Our 5 giant deals in our first four years was geared towards the yearnings of our people. The giant deals continued in our second term and I am proud to say we have delivered on our campaign promises,” Ajala boasted.
The council boss acknowledged the efforts of his team,the executive, the legislature, management staff, party leaders, party members and the support of traditional institutions, religious leaders, market men and women, artisans,CDCs and corporate establishments in the LCDA.
All the party leaders present spoke glowingly of the council boss’s laudable achievements and also use the opportunity to campaign for 2027 elections
