Senator Ned Nwoko has debunked claims on Social Media that he married his estranged wife, Regina Daniels at the age of 17, reports thegazellenews.com
Social Media reports have criticised Nwoko for marrying an alleged underaged Regina, some going on to accuse him of paedophile.

However, in a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Ned Nwoko debunked the report.
According to him, the allegations are false, misleading, and entirely unfounded. Nwoko explained that during his first meeting with Regina, he had asked about her age, and she told him she was 21 years old at the time.

He further stated that she presented her INEC voter’s card, which showed that she was born on October 10th, 1998.

Nwoko revealed that he decided to keep the document for reference and has retained it ever since.
He also referenced a BBC interview granted by Regina’s mother after their marriage, which corroborated the same information regarding her age.
He clarified that their marriage took place six years ago, which, based on verified records, means Regina is 27 years old today. Nwoko firmly dismissed any claim that he married her at 17, calling it a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
He urged everyone to approach Regina’s recent statements with caution and discernment, particularly in light of what he described as her ongoing mental and emotional struggles, following an abandoned rehabilitation from illegal drug addiction.
Nwoko concluded by emphasizing that the facts are verifiable and indisputable, and that truth should guide public judgment on the matter.
