The Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, has empowered 100 residents with ₦100,000 each under the second edition of the ₦10 million Renewed Hope Cash Initiative, reports thegazellenews.com

Thegazellenews.com reports further that the programme was aimed at supporting small businesses and strengthening economic stability within the community.
In her opening remarks, Hon. Akindele appreciated the support of residents and stakeholders, reflecting on the council’s progress and the collective effort behind its achievements.

“We can only make it work when we work together; no one can do it alone.” she said.
She also highlighted several projects undertaken by her administration, including the “Light Up Mosan-Okunola” initiative which introduced solar-powered electricity to the council in place of heavy reliance on generators. She further announced that plans were underway to provide a new transformer and improved power supply for the community.
Speaking on ongoing infrastructural development, the Chairman noted that the Legislative Building currently under construction would soon be completed.
“In the next two to three months, we will gather here again to commission the building.” she stated.
The Chairman explained that the cash empowerment programme was designed to help traders, artisans, and entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses and remain economically productive despite prevailing economic challenges.
“N100,000 is a significant amount of money, so please use it wisely for your business.” she advised beneficiaries.
Hon. Akindele further assured residents that the programme would not be a one-time intervention, as the council intends to expand the initiative to reach more people across the community.

“This initiative will continue, and we will keep making efforts until it reaches everyone,” she promised.
She also revealed that the council would conduct follow-up monitoring to ensure that beneficiaries utilize the funds effectively for business development and improved livelihoods.
The highlight of the programme was the presentation of the cash empowerment to beneficiaries. The first ten beneficiaries received their ₦100,000 cash support from the Iya Oloja General of Mosan-Okunola, Deaconess Ogunlana, symbolizing the council’s commitment to supporting local traders and small business owners. The remaining beneficiaries were subsequently presented with their cash grants by members of the executive and management team.
Community leaders, traditional rulers, and stakeholders present at the event commended the initiative, noting that programmes like the Renewed Hope Cash Initiative demonstrate practical leadership and reinforce the role of local government in delivering direct economic empowerment to residents.
The initiative reaffirmed the council’s commitment to economic empowerment, community development, and improved livelihoods for residents of Mosan-Okunola.
