The Chairman of Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area, Honourable Jimoh Olawale Saliu has been applauded by residents as 1000 community members benefited from his sponsored free health insurance scheme (LASHMA).
The Chairman stated in his speech that, “I believed that the true measure of leadership is not the position we occupy but, the positive impacts make in the lives of those we served.


“Therefore, the need to sponsor thousands of residents whom majority have no access to quality and affordable health insurance scheme package of this magnitude. So, the reason for the bold step to strategically partner with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) to enroll 1000 residents to benefit from this formal health insurance policy against unexpected illness, for timely and quality medical attention.
“However, this gesture is in line with the renewed hope agenda of the Federal Government.
Quality health care and prompt medical intervention for all citizens irrespective of social status”.
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, who was represented by Mr. Lanre Green, said, “my profound gratitude to the Chairman of Apapa- Iganmu LCDA Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu for your unwavering commitment to improve your community members well-being through the “ILERA EKO ILERA IBILE scheme” and for your show of understanding that not all residents can afford the premium and you deem it fit to sponsor your residents in line with the directives of Mr. Governor on mandatory enrollment of all Lagos residents into the social health insurance scheme. We appeal to all Executive Chairman to kindly facilitate and sponsor their community members in which you have done. Let us all work together to build a healthier, more resilient Lagos State where quality health care is accessible to all irrespective of socio-economic status”.

The Lagos State House of Assembly member and House Committee Chairman on Health representing Apapa State Constituency II, Hon. Lawal Aina Musibau, urged all residents to key into it and not to be discouraged in any way from taking full advantage of the scheme but, ensure they choose hospitals that are nearer to their residence area in order to reduce stress of accessing it whenever the need arise.
Miss Ekeowo ijeoma, Area coordinator Lagos Mainland, Mrs Bunmi Peters; Emergency Care Officer, and Mr Lucas Aladeusi, spoke about the benefits of the scheme, how to fully access it, payment and mode of registration.

The presentation of the Free Health Insurance scheme form was also done by the Chairman, Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu and community members were very happy to received the forms.
The Health Stakeholders’ engagement programme was well attended by many dignitaries in Apapa Iganmu LCDA: the council Chairman, Hon Jimoh Olawale Saliu; the chairperson, Hon. Kikelomo Layeni-Jimoh; the Leader of the House, Hon. Adigun Abdullahi Arogundade; the Councillors; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Olanrewaju Ahmed; Supervisors; and Special Advisers.
The LASHMA Permanent Secretary’s representative, Mr Lanre Green; the Public Affairs Officer of LASHMA, Mrs Olayinka Gbemibade; other LASHMA Officials; traditional and community leaders were also present.
