On Monday, 12 August, 2024 the secretariat of the Action People’s Party(APP), situated along the GRA axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital suffered a dynamite explosion.
The incident, it was gathered reportedly occurred late in the evening of Sunday, 12 August, 2024 at around 9:35 pm.
The assailants allegedly threw dynamites into the building housing the secretariat, destroying windows and doors, as well as other property of the party.
This development came amidst speculations that the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, plans to move with his supporters to the APP.
A party official who chose to remain anonymous said the incident was politically-motivated.
“Yes, I’m a member of the APP. I was informed of the attack at about 3 am today
“This is politically-motivated and there is no two ways about it. They know that the APP is a fast-growing political party in the state. We call on the police to investigate this and arrest the culprits,” he said.
However, the Public Relations officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she was not yet aware of the incident.
