The Governor of Lagos of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; the Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi; and the Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele all delivered messages of peace and love in Lagos on Sunday, 14 December, 2025, reports thegazellenews.com
The occasion was the 3rd Annual Christmas Carol of the ruling party in Lagos State which took place at the party secretariat on ACME road, Ikeja.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Kadir Obafemi Hamzat, commended Lagosians and Nigerians in general for the love and support given to the APC administration at both the state and national levels.
“We are well aware of your support and we are not taking it for granted. Government at both state and national levels is committed to improve on the steady rise in our socio-economic structure while tackling the challenges facing us with vigour.
“Peaceful co-existence is essential in building a developed society, so we must not relent in sharing love and maintaining peace. The essence of Christ’s teaching is love and peace,” the Governor said.
Speaking earlier, the Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Ojelabi told the gathering that the event which has become one of the flagship programmes of the party in the state, was put together to appreciate God for his protection over the citizenry.
“We have to thank Him for protecting us, for protecting our leaders. We also have to pray to God not to relent in His protection over us and our leaders and to give our leaders the wisdom and capacity to lead us right,” he said.
Pastor Ojelabi called on Lagosians and Nigerians in general to make peace and sharing of love their watchwords. “We should love one another and live together in peace,” the Lagos APC Chairman said.
On his part, Senator Bamidele expressed gratitude to the organisers for inviting him noting that it is always a thing of joy for him to come back to Lagos whenever he is invited for events.
“The message of Christ is clear. We must love one another and live in peace among ourselves,” he said.
At the event tagged, ‘Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons’ prominent people read Bible lessons from the Holy Book.
Some of them are: the First Lady of the state, Dr Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa; and the Secretary to the state Government, Barrister Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin.
The event was attended by and not limited to: the Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, Dr Kayode Opeifa; GAC members: Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, Seriki Bamu, Dr Anthony Adefuye and Honourable Jumoke Okoya-Thomas; cabinet members of Lagos including the Special Advise to the Governor on Works, Engineer Adekunle Olayinka; state Assembly members: Honourable Steven Ogundipe, Jibril Abdul Kareem and Olusegun Adebisi Ege.
