An organisation known as Shehu Buba Umar Vanguard has rejected allegations that Senator Shehu Buba is funding terrorist groups, describing it as a deliberate attempt to smear Senator Buba’s reputation and undermine his integrity ahead of the 2027 polls.
This was contained in a press statement by the Director General SBU-Vanguard, Engr Ishaq S Dabo and made available to Journalists in Bauch Thursday .
According to the statement, the attention of the organization has been drawn to a fabricated and malicious video that circulated on social media, falsely accusing Senator Shehu Buba of supporting and leading terrorist groups.
“Senator Shehu Buba Umar has a long record as an advocate for peace and dialogue. Even before his election to the Senate, he worked with respected Islamic clerics and community leaders, including those who assisted in government-led negotiations aimed at restoring peace in affected communities, efforts that produced positive results. Senator SBU commitment has always been to peaceful resolution, community security, and the welfare of Bauchi South.
“We believe the fabricated video is the product of irresponsible political actors threatened by Senator Shehu Buba Umar’s growing acceptability and effectiveness. This smear campaign is a transparent effort to distract voters and derail the positive work our principal is doing for Bauchi State.
“We call on the general public and our supporters to remain calm and not to share or amplify unverified material. Spreading false information only fuels division and harms our democracy.
“Media organizations and social media platforms should investigate and remove the fake video and any related content that violates their terms of service.Citizens should observe media ethics and avoid posting contents that they cannot defend in a court of law.
“We are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and documenting the circulation of the false video.We will pursue all appropriate legal remedies against those responsible for creating and disseminating defamatory material.
Senator Shehu Buba Umar said, “I have always stood for peace and the wellbeing of our people. I reject these baseless attacks and will continue my work for the people of Bauchi South. I urge everyone to verify information before sharing it and to remain focused on the issues that matter to our communities.
“We urge our supporters to stay focused on our mission and continue with scheduled activities. Let us remain united in promoting Senator Shehu Buba Umar’s vision for development, good governance, and peace in Bauchi State”.
