A disturbing case out of Thembisa, South Africa, has sparked widespread debate after two women were arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 32-year-old man following a night out at a local tavern.

According to reports, the incident began at a tavern located in Winnie Mandela Zone 8, where the victim allegedly met the two women, both aged 26.

The trio reportedly spent time drinking together before later proceeding to a rented backyard room in Winnie Mandela Zone 4.

What initially appeared to be a casual social gathering allegedly turned into a horrifying ordeal.

Police reports indicate that once inside the room, the man was allegedly overpowered and sexually assaulted by the two suspects.

During the incident, the victim reportedly managed to reach for a key, unlock the burglar door, and escape the room with assistance from the landlord.

The man later reported the matter to authorities, leading to the arrest of the two women.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court, where they will face rape charges.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Thembisa has since addressed the incident, stressing that gender-based violence affects everyone, including men, and encouraging victims of sexual abuse to speak out and seek justice.

The case has triggered intense reactions online, with many South Africans debating the stigma male victims often face when reporting sexual assault cases.

Authorities have not yet released further details as investigations continue.

This incident adds to growing conversations around gender-based violence in South Africa and the importance of treating every allegation with seriousness, regardless of gender.
