Nigerian ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) numerical strength received boost again on Tuesday, 23 December, 2025 as six members of the Rivers State House of Representatives, said to be loyal to former Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the party, reports thegazellenews.com.

Their defection marks the latest political shift linked to the ongoing power struggle within the Rivers PDP, as Wike’s allies continue to realign with the ruling party at the federal level.

Thegazellenews.com reports that the lawmakers announced their defection during plenary on Tuesday, 23 December, 2025.

The lawmakers that joined the ruling APC are Hon. Solomon Bob, Hon. Victor Obuzor, Hon. Dumnamene Dekor, Hon. Cyril Hart, Hon. Blessing Amadi, and Hon. Felix Nwaeke.

The move by the new party members is expected to further weaken the PDP’s influence in Rivers State and deepen tensions between party factions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
