Famous Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly addressed as Skales, has dismissed claims that fellow music star Burna Boy once gave him N600,000 during a period of financial hardship, describing the story as false and misleading.
Skales said the rumour originated from a Burna Boy fan on X (formerly Twitter), stressing that the narrative was entirely fabricated. He made the clarification during a recent appearance on the Adesope Live show.
According to the singer, the false claim compelled him to directly contact the fan, identified as Benny, to understand why such a story was being circulated about him.
“There was a time I had to reach out to a Burna Boy fan on Twitter. I think his name is Benny or something. I asked him what I had done to him to warrant the hate he exhibits towards me,” Skales said.
The singer explained that the fan had spread the claim that Burna Boy once assisted him financially when he was broke—an assertion he firmly denied.
“He created fake news that there was a time I was broke and Burna Boy helped me with N600,000. That never happened,” Skales stated.
