Residents of Somolu Local Government have hailed the Chairman of the local government, Hon Lateef Ashimi as 500 residents filed out to receive N100,000 each as parts of the Renewed Hope Cash intervention to bring smiles to the faces of the residents.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Council boss stated that the event was part of the fulfilment of his campaign promises to the people of the local government.

He assured the residents that his administration will not rest on its oars. “You have trusted us with your votes and we will not disappoint you,” he said.
Beneficiaries of the programme are drawn from the eight political wards of the local government.
At the event, the Council Chairman also presented a coaster bus to the staff to transport them to and from work.
“We believe in the welfare of the staff of the local hence the need for them to feel the impacts of our administration.
“Thus, the need to present a coaster bus as a Staff Bus to our workers becomes imperative,” he said.
The Somolu LG Chairman was not done yet as he also presented an ambulance to the health department to enhance operations at the council’s primary healthcare centres particularly during emergencies.
For this, he received high commendations from two members of the state House of Assembly: Misbah Lawal, Chairman of the House Committee on Health; and his counterpart for Special Duties, Age Sulaiman.
Ashimi also presented official cars to six Baales in the council area.

Alhaji Chief Rahalau Yunusa; Baale of Orile George, Chief Muhammed Babatunde Lawal; Baale of Debari town, Chief Fatai Saka Kashimawo; Baale of Alade, Chief Abdullateef Gafar; Baale of Orile Somolu,
Chief Muftau Akinpelu; and Baale of Akoka,
Chief Shakirudeen Adisa Junaid.

He informed the audience that so far his administration has embarked on massive road construction in the council area.
Some of the roads constructed by his administration are: Olaleye Close, Olaleye road, Sanusi street, Jemilugba lane, Okuyiga close, Olu Ajisegbede, Albert, Durosimi/Boyle close, Emmanuel, Olorunsogo, Esan Ogboogun, Shiro Street, Ojo street, Israel Oyekan, Henry Adigwe street, Awofeso street and Akeju Dabira street.
“We are working on Wesley Primary school buildings, Wright Primary Healthcare Centre, constructing drainages at Bajulaiye, distribution of Renewed Hope Food Palliatives, distribution of Free JAMB forms, organising summer coaching and Spelling Bee,” Ashimi said.
He assured that the Oyediran market will be upgraded very soon to compete with the likes Alade and Olaleye Markets.
The political leader in Somolu Local Government and Bariga LCDA, Apostle Peter Oyewusi said Hon.Lateef Ashimi is doing what the doubting Thomases never expected in terms of infrastructure development and human capital development.
