The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers, including the biological son of the victim, in connection with the abduction of Alhaji Ahmadu in Malabu, Fufore Local Government Area of the state.
The arrests were confirmed on Tuesday, 10 February, 2026, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, who said the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated intelligence-led operation carried out with local security stakeholders.
According to the police, the operation followed the abduction of Alhaji Ahmadu on January 30, 2026, and was executed in line with directives of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, to intensify the clampdown on kidnapping and other violent crimes.
“The Adamawa State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its sustained fight against kidnapping and related violent crimes, following coordinated intelligence-led operations carried out in collaboration with local security stakeholders,” the statement said.
Nguroje explained that a joint team of police operatives and members of Miyetti-Allah raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Jera village in Malabu District, Fufore LGA, where the suspects were arrested.
“Sequel to the recent kidnapping activities that led to the abduction of Alhaji Ahmadu in Malabu on 30/01/2026 and in compliance with the directives of the Commissioner of Police… a joint coordinated operation comprising police operatives and members of Miyetti-Allah was carried out at a suspected kidnappers’ hideout located at Jera village,” the statement added.
The suspects were identified as Lawali Haruna, 45; Yahaya Ibrahim, 25; and Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu, 28, all residents of Jera village in Fufore LGA.
In a disturbing twist, police disclosed that Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu is the biological son of the kidnapped victim.
“More worrisome, one of the suspects happened to be the biological son of the victim. All the three suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime,” Nguroje said.
Meanwhile, the police said efforts were ongoing to rescue the victim unharmed and arrest other members of the kidnapping syndicate.
“While efforts are ongoing to rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate, the suspects are in custody while investigations continue,” the statement said.
Commending the collaboration with local security groups, the Commissioner of Police reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state and urged the public to provide timely and credible information.
“Further developments will be communicated as investigation progresses,” the police said.
