THE Southern Governors’ Forum has condoled the Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Dikko Umaru Radda, over the death of his mother, Hajiya Safara’u Umaru Barebari, on Sunday, 23 March, 2025.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Sunday, 23 March, 2025, the Forum said the passing of Hajia Safara’u Umaru Barebari, being a mother who had given her all in training and nurturing her children, including the governor, was bound to be heartbreaking.
It noted, however, that the fulfilled life she lived, especially in her service to her community and the people of Katsina State as a whole, was more than enough consolation.
The Forum added that her transition in the holy month of Ramadan during which, with other Muslim faithful, she was engaged in prayer and supplications to Almighty Allah, as well as acts of charity, was symbolic.
It added: “The death of one’s mother, no matter the age, is always painful. Her love, kindness, devotion and wise counsel cannot be replaced. No doubt, His Excellency, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, had looked forward to the continued enjoyment of mother’s love and company after the Ramadan fast, but Almighty Allah decided to call her home at this time.
“The Southern Governors’ Forum commiserates with His Excellency, the Government and people of Katsina State over the loss of this precious woman of faith and dignity who was described as a pillar of support and a mother to all, whose kindness and wisdom will be deeply missed.
“We commiserate with Governor Dikko Umaru Radda and his siblings, the Village Head of Radda, Alhaji Kabir Umar Radda , and Hajiya Hauwa Umar Radda and other members of the family on this irreparable loss. May Allah grant her Aljanat Fridaus.”
