Speculation is mounting in Kogi State over a possible defection of cleric and political activist, Stanley Omoniyi Ajileye, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), reports thegazellenews.com.
Ajileye, an Ekinrin-Adde–born clergy and intelligent writer widely regarded as a wordsmith in political communication, is the immediate past spokesperson of the PDP in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

He has also played prominent roles in both gubernatorial and presidential media campaign teams of the PDP, dating back to the era of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Although no official declaration has been made, strong indications suggest that Ajileye may be on his way out of the PDP in the coming days.

Political observers point to his recent public posture and online engagements as signals of an imminent political realignment.
In the past few months, Ajileye’s commentaries have increasingly aligned with positions associated with the APC. Notably, he has openly called on Honourable James Abiodun Faleke to consider joining the Kogi governorship race, a move he believes could “rescue Kogi West from political servitude.”
Ajileye has also urged Nigerians to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the opportunity to return in 2027, praising what he described as the President’s uncompromising stance against insurgency and insecurity across the country.
Impeccable sources close to the clergy confirmed that Ajileye has held discussions with leaders of the PDP, during which he reportedly expressed deep dissatisfaction with the party’s current trajectory. According to the sources, he lamented that he would not be comfortable remaining “one of the undertakers taking the PDP to the cemetery,” though he deliberately avoided disclosing his next political destination.
Analysts believe that a move to the APC would be consistent with Ajileye’s recent political posture and advocacy. His associates describe him as a bold, consistent and dependable political figure whose decision, if confirmed, could have implications for political alignments in Kogi West and beyond.
For now, the political space in Kogi State remains on edge as stakeholders await an official statement from Ajileye to confirm or dispel the growing defection rumours.
