The latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics(NBS), on Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) at state level for 2025 disclosed that 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, generated a combined N5.15 trillion as revenue, representing a 40.93 per cent increase from the N3.65 trillion recorded in 2024, reports thegazellenews.com.
According to NBS, Lagos State topped the ranking with N1.77 trillion generated during the year, accounting for more than a third of the total IGR generated by the states and FCT.
Rivers State came second with N428.42 billion, while Enugu State ranked third with N406.77 billion.
The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, generated N356.34 billion to rank fourth, followed by Ogun State with N252.36 billion.
Delta State generated N202.49 billion to occupy sixth position, while Edo State ranked seventh with N132.21 billion.
Oyo State generated N103.25 billion, Kano N102.26 billion, and Akwa Ibom N100.80 billion to complete the top 10.
Other states and their IGR figures were: Kwara, N95.36 billion; Kaduna, N86.75 billion; Abia, N70.41 billion; Jigawa, N66.73 billion; Niger, N66.37 billion; Katsina, N64.29 billion; Ondo, N60.32 billion; Cross River, N58.64 billion; Ekiti, N57.09 billion; and Anambra, N57.03 billion.
Osun generated N56.84 billion, Bauchi N52.79 billion, Bayelsa N50.30 billion, Plateau N45.10 billion, Gombe N43.96 billion, Kogi N43.94 billion, and Imo N43.65 billion.
Borno recorded N36.36 billion, Adamawa N33.76 billion, Nasarawa N32.57 billion, Kebbi N31.23 billion, Zamfara N30.07 billion, and Benue N29.57 billion.
Taraba generated N28.16 billion, Sokoto N20.48 billion, Ebonyi N17.18 billion, while Yobe recorded the lowest IGR at N16.01 billion.
