Surulere has a long-standing reputation for its development, hospitality, economic growth, and contribution to national development. The region has produced leaders who have served at both the Federal and State level, earning its distinction among other areas.
Distinguished good people of Surulere, in 2002, I vied for the office of a Councillor and the good people of the Ward said it is not time to serve. Twelve years later, I indicated my interest in the seat of the constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly and I gracefully lost to the incumbent and the same scenario repeated itself in 2022, where the party leadership agreed that the incumbent should continue to serve.
Throughout I have remained steadfast, very active, dedicated, committed, loyal and faithful to the party while also contributing to its growth, through the different phases, and Surulere in general.
Despite not holding a political portfolio, I have engaged in various initiatives to support education, health, youth empowerment, and social welfare, benefiting students, youths, businesses, the elderly, widows, and people with disabilities. These, among many other reasons, resulted in my nomination and election as Chairman of the APC in Surulere (Constituency 1 & 2).
During the 2023 General Election, I served as the Director General of the party’s Campaign Council (TGSEE), successfully delivering all five candidates in Surulere Local Government. Additionally, I was appointed as a member of the Joint Task Force for Surulere 2, further demonstrating my commitment to the success of our party.
With my prolific and ongoing consultation, the level of acceptance, and the call by the people, I accept with great humility the clarion call to represent Surulere Federal Constituency 1 in the House of Representatives.
I recognize the enormous responsibility that lies ahead, especially in light of the exceptional leadership of our utmost leader, Rt Hon. Dr. Femi Gbajabiamila. Surulere has become a benchmark for development under his representation, and I am determined to continue this legacy by working tirelessly for the welfare and progress of Surulere 1.
I am Fuad Kayode Laguda (FKL) and I am here to be your servant to continue to bring the dividends of democracy you desire through effective representation at the House of Representatives.
I use this opportunity to seek and solicit your support in the forthcoming bye-elections of the 19th August 2023 to represent you at the Federal House of Representatives.
