The Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, on Sunday, 2 August, 2026, led members of the council, political office holders, community stakeholders and residents to a special thanksgiving service in appreciation of God’s faithfulness and guidance as activities marking the first anniversary of his administration continued.
The thanksgiving service, held at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Imota Circuit, attracted party faithful, religious leaders and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate what they described as a year of impactful leadership and remarkable achievements under the administration’s “Hi-SEE” Transformation Agenda.

Speaking during the service, Hon. Benson expressed profound gratitude to God for granting him the wisdom, strength and good health to serve the people of Imota LCDA over the past year. He noted that every milestone recorded by his administration was made possible through divine grace, the support of residents and the dedication of members of his team.

The council Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more people-centred projects and programmes, assuring residents that the second year of his administration would witness greater progress in critical sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, environmental sanitation and community development.
Delivering the sermon, the officiating minister and Circuit Presbyter of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Imota Circuit, the Very Revd. Abimbola Abraham Abidoye, urged leaders at all levels to remain humble and acknowledge God’s role in governance.
He commended Hon. Benson for returning to give thanks after completing one year in office, describing thanksgiving as an act of gratitude that attracts greater blessings, wisdom and divine direction.

Special prayers were offered by the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Imota chapter, Pastor Samuel Adebayo, for the continued peace, unity and development of Imota LCDA, Lagos State and Nigeria. The cleric also prayed for divine protection, sound health and greater accomplishments for Hon. Benson, members of his cabinet, elected officials and other public office holders.
As part of the celebration, gift were presentated to the Council Chairman and the Vice-Chairman, Princess Abisoye Omowunmi Jimoh, while performance of cultural drance added colour and excitement to the thanksgiving service.
Political leaders, residents and community stakeholders who attended the service congratulated the chairman on the successful completion of his first year in office. They praised his administration for initiating and executing developmental projects that have positively impacted communities across the four political wards of the council area and expressed confidence that the administration would sustain its development agenda.

The thanksgiving service formed part of a series of activities commemorating the first anniversary of Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele’s administration. The anniversary celebrations are expected to continue with more programmes designed to showcase the achievements of the council while reinforcing the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development in Imota LCDA.
