Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, clocked 70 on Tuesday, 9 September, 2026 with The Companion celebrating a career that has shaped Nigeria’s jurisprudence, legal scholarship and public service, reports thegazellenews.com
The Companion, an Association of Muslim Men in Business and the Professions, issued the tribute in Lagos on 9/9/2026.
National Amir, Imam Nojeem Jimoh, FCIH (UK), and National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tunde Akanni, signed the statement.
The association described the milestone as a testament to service.
“Attaining the age of seventy is, in itself, a profound blessing from Almighty Allah. For Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, however, this milestone is the celebration of a life devoted to faith, justice, scholarship, philanthropy and service to humanity,” it stated.
Over several decades, Ali distinguished himself at the Bar. The Companion noted that as a Senior Advocate, he demonstrated professional excellence, integrity and intellectual depth that earned him the respect of the Bench, the Bar and the public.
The tribute also credited him with strengthening legal education and governance.
“As a distinguished author, Professor Ali has produced authoritative books and scholarly works, especially in law, constitutionalism and anti-corruption. These publications have become reference materials widely cited by scholars, students, practitioners and policy experts within and beyond Nigeria. His intellectual legacy is an enduring investment in the nation’s legal and governance architecture,” the statement said.
Beyond the courtroom, the association identified Ali as a leading voice in the Muslim community.
“His leadership has been characterised by wisdom, moderation, courage and an abiding commitment to justice, compassion and communal development. He continues to inspire Muslim professionals through a life that integrates faith with public responsibility,” it said.
The Companion further highlighted his philanthropy in education, community development and humanitarian work, noting that his support has created opportunities across communities.
The group cited humility as central to his public image.
“Despite his towering accomplishments, Professor Ali remains warm, approachable and gracious. His simplicity and respect for people, irrespective of status, have made him a celebrated advocate, mentor and statesman,” it stated.
The association said it holds Ali up as a model of excellence and service. It prayed for his continued health and impact.
“We pray that Allah grants our distinguished elder statesman sound health, renewed strength, abundant barakah and many more years of service to Islam, Nigeria and humanity. May He increase him in wisdom, protect his family, preserve his legacy and reward his sacrifices with Al-Jannah Firdaus,” it said.
