Some 500-level Accounting students of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, Oyo State lost their lives in a fatal accident while returning from an excursion to Erin-Ijesa Waterfall in Osun State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, 27 September, 2023, around Ilobu-Okinni-Osogbo road in Osun State while they were returning from their visit to the waterfall. The bus conveying the students according to reports, caught fire although the cause of the accident is still unknown.
The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Lekan Fadeyi confirmed the accident. He said lives were lost in the accident but he could not confirm the number.
“I can confirm to you that there was an accident while some students passed on but I have not gotten the details of their identities,” he was quoted.
The students reportedly organised the excursion to Erin-Ijesa Waterfall after their first semester exam as part of their activities as final year students.
