Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone Chapter, has confirmed that one of their members died in the billboard accident on Wednesday, 28 May, 2025, at Salad Junction in Aba, just as it also described the incident as a big tragedy.
The Aba Zonal Chairman of ASTOPU, Victor Azubuike,who stated this in statement he signed and made available to newsmen, asked the Abia State government to launch a thorough investigation into the incident and to compensate the families of the victims.
The union equally urged relevant health authorities to ensure that those receiving treatment get the best possible care and support.
The union, which asked Abia State government agencies and other regulatory bodies to prioritize public safety through strict inspections, demanded the enforcement of standards for billboards and all similar structures in the state.
