Tragedy occurred on Monday, 3 March, 2026 in Iho community in the Ikeduru Local Government area of Imo State after a truck rammed into a building, killing a mother of three children, Mrs Chioma Ogu; and leaving her husband, Mr Ogu, lying critically ill and battling for his life in an undisclosed hospital.
The late Mrs Ogu was in their house when the truck conveying chippings lost control and rammed into their bungalow apartment in Iho, Ikeduru.
According Sources, the late Chioma was planning her mother’s burial scheduled for this weekend before her demise.
The source, Mr Emma Emeka, said the driver was alleged to have dozed off while driving, during which the truck veered off the road and rammed into the building, killing Chioma and leaving her husband critically injured.
The incident was said to have occurred during late hours when many families had retired for the night.
“We were already in our houses for the night when we heard a loud noise and then screams from Mr Ogu. When we rushed out, we saw Mrs Chioma Ogu lying lifeless; she was crushed by the truck that rammed into their house.
“As we speak, Mr Ogu is battling for his life in the hospital. Until her death, Mrs Chioma was planning her own mother’s burial scheduled for this weekend. This is indeed tragic”, Emeka said.
As at the time of filing this report, the Imo State Police Command has yet to comment on the sad development.
