Tragedy struck at World Bank junction roundabout in Owerri, Imo state capital on Thursday, 10 August , 2023 as a United Kingdom-bound Nigerian, Wisdom Chukumerem,30, was shot dead by armed robbers while withdrawing money from a Point of Sale operator.
The deceased, a father of two, who hailed from Awo Ommamma in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, was shot three times.
His immediate elder brother, Shedrack Anulika Chukwumerem, confirmed the sad development to The PUNCH during an interview in Owerri, on Monday, 21 August, 2023 after the police operatives released the mortuary tally to him and gave him the clean bill of health to bury Wisdom.
The deceased elder brother said that his family was traumatised by the killing of his younger brother.
The distraught 32-year-old Shedrack said that the armed robbers who robbed the POS operator killed his brother after accusing him of calling policemen to storm the scene.
According to him, all the appeals his brother made to the armed robbers that he was not calling policemen fell on deaf ears as they shot him dead on the spot, just as he also added that his brother was pronounced dead at the Umuguma Specialists General Hospital where policemen took him.
He added the police operatives released the mortuary tally to him and gave him the clean bill of health to bury him, said that his family was trumatised by the killing of his young brother.
