The United Nations systems in Nigeria has restated continued commitment to support Nigeria achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The UN Resident Coordinator in Nigeria Mohammed Fall disclosed this at a press conference to mark the UN Day, in Abuja
Fall who also said that for UN to achieve SDGs, Nigeria must first achieve it, said:
“For us, Nigeria is a very important country. As we always say, we cannot achieve the SDG if Nigeria doesn’t make it. Less than five years we have now to achieve the Agenda 2030.”
He added that the Summit of the Future and its landmark outcome, have highlighted five strategic priorities: SDG financing for development, international peace and security, science, technology and innovation, youth and future generation and global governance.
Fall said: “The Nigeria we want is reflected in the pact. At the UN, our focus is to ensure that Nigeria achieves the SDG. This is why we work closely with the government at all levels. We work with all the development partners, we work with civil society to put the SDG on track in Nigeria.”

According to him, humanitarian assistance alone can’t solve people’s problems, but a combinations of bitga.
Fall while noting that UN is interested in the wellbeing of Nigeria, noted that are intervention by the world body in every part of the country.
He argued that concentration is based on needs and that it is a misconception to believe that the Northeast was given bigger priority.
