The Ogun State Police Command on Thursday, 6 July, 2023, has confirmed that a 62-year-old physically challenged man identified as Adetunji Ajayi, has been hacked to death at his residence in IMasayi, Yewa-North Local Government Area of Ogun State, thegazellenews.com reports.
The man, it was gathered, was cut to pieces Wednesday, 5 July, 2023 by unknown assailants who may have broken into his apartment after members of his family went out for their daily activities.
The State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the attack and explained that the victim was machete to death around 3pm on Wednesday,5 July, 2023, just as she also said that its operatives are on the trail of the killers.
According to her, the family met his butchered body in a pool of blood when they returned from work.
“The command received the report of macheting to death of one Adetunji Ayaji, 62 years, where unknown assailants gained entrance into the home of the deceased and murdered him,” Odutola confirmed, disclosing that the victim’s mobile line was taken away by his assassins.
According to Odutola, the body of the victim had been evacuated to the General Hospital in Ilaro for further examination.
“The Ogun State Police Command has no firm lead about the reason behind this extreme viciousness,” Odutola stated, adding that the Ogun Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, condemned the act, assuring that the killers “will regret their actions and justice will be done.”
