The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has honoured the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, with an honorary Doctor of Public Administration degree, recognising her contributions to public service and national development.

The honorary degree was conferred on Saturday, 25 July, 2026 during the university’s 55th Convocation Ceremony at Nsukka, Enugu State, alongside other academic and institutional honours presented by the university.

The conferment placed the First Lady among distinguished personalities recognised by the institution as part of activities marking the convocation ceremony, which also featured the conferment of higher degrees on 2,994 graduands.

The university awarded 1,390 Doctor of Philosophy degrees, 1,340 Master’s degrees and 214 Postgraduate Diplomas during the ceremony.

The honorary recognition for Oluremi Tinubu came alongside three other honorary doctorate awards presented to High Chief Williams Agbo, who received a Doctor of Business Administration; Dr W. Franklyn Richardson, who was honoured with a Doctor of Social Work; and Arc. Kaycee-Kelechi Orji, who received a Doctor of Business Administration.

The university also conferred the title of Professor Emeritus on Prof Peter-Jazzy Eze and Prof Boniface Okere.

The honour for the First Lady formed part of the university’s broader recognition of individuals whose contributions and public service have distinguished them in their respective fields.

The ceremony was attended by members of the university community, dignitaries and other stakeholders as the institution celebrated its graduands and recognised distinguished Nigerians and other personalities.
