The Yaba headquarters of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) was a beehive of activities on Wednesday, 16 July, 2025, as elected Chairmen of the 57 councils in Lagos and elected 376 councillors were presented with their certificates of return, reports thegazellenews.com
The elected Chairmen, their elected Vice, and the elected Councillors all decked in flowing and beautiful outfits, stood one after the other to collect their certificates of return from the leadership of LASIEC led by the Chairman, Justice (read) Bola Okikiolu-Ighile.

The Chairman of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, led executive members of the party to the event. APC is the ruling party in the state. It won all the 57 chairmanship seats and 375 out of the 376 councillorship seats.

Prominent among those who collected their certificates of return were: Oluseyi Jakande, Odiolowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area; Jimoh Olawale Saliu ‘Alfa’, Apapa-Iganmu LCDA; Akeem ‘Lagbaja’ Dauda, Ikeja Local Government; Honourable Muhibat Rufai, Ojo Local Government; Usman Akanbi Hamzat, Ifako-Ijaiye LG; Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, Alimoso LG; and Abiodun Agbaje, Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA.


Hon. Seyi Jakande, the newly elected Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, has received his Certificate of Return from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) alongside other chairmen and councillor-elects from the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state. The event was held today, at the LASIEC state office in Yaba.

Thegazellenews.com reports that the council chairmen were elected at the local government elections that took place on Saturday, 12 July, 2025. The elections were conducted by LASIEC and were generally regarded as free and fair without violence or rancour.
