Former Senate Minority Whip, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, has recommended vocational training and technical skills as tools for tackling poverty.

Senator Solomon stated this while speaking at TheGazelleNews 2024 Public Lecture held at Radisson Blu Hotel, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos State on Thursday, 5 November, 2024.

According to him, “poverty can be reduced to the barest minimum if the people can imbibe the culture of undergoing vocational training and acquiring technical skills that will help them not only to cater for themselves but also for their families.

He said that the government at various levels have put a lot of mechanisms in place for the reduction of poverty in the country and it is left for the people to grab the opportunities to help themselves and their families,

Solomon, former Chairman of Mushin Local Government, said with various social interventions programmes put in place by the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, “the future is bright for Nigerians.

“The future is bright .We have leaders who are planning day and night to make things better for all Nigerians, minimise or reduce poverty in the country. The leaders are not blind to what the people are facing and things will get normal again”.

Solomon, who was the Father of the Day at the Public Lecture, praised management of TheGazelleNews for the theme of the lecture titled “Poverty Alleviation: Fantasies, Expectations, and Realities of People’s Empowerment.”

He said other media houses should emulate TheGazelleNews which has been doing very well in disseminating information in truthful and in unbiased manner, saying that this has put the medium among the best in the country.
