Nigerian singer, Wande Coal, has hit back at Afrobeats star Davido over comments concerning their unreleased collaboration on the remix of his hit song, Come My Way.

Wande Coal reacted on Tuesday, 18 August, 2026, in a post on his X handle after Davido explained during a podcast interview why his recorded verse did not feature on the song.

Davido had claimed that he recorded a verse for ‘Come My Way’ but disagreed with Wande Coal’s plan to release the song first and subsequently use his contribution for a remix.

According to Davido, the disagreement over the proposed release arrangement eventually led to the collaboration being shelved, despite his belief that the verse he recorded was exceptionally strong.

Responding to the claim, Wande Coal disputed Davido’s account, insisting that the song already had a release plan and date before the proposed collaboration.

He questioned why Davido would seek to dictate the release strategy of a song that was not his, while maintaining that ‘Come My Way’ performed well without the Afrobeats star’s contribution.

Wande Coal wrote that the song had an established release plan and date, stressing that its success did not depend on Davido’s participation.

The exchange has brought renewed attention to the previously unreleased collaboration and the circumstances surrounding the decision not to release Davido’s recorded verse.

While Davido maintained that disagreements over the use of his contribution prevented the collaboration from being released, Wande Coal’s response presented a different account, highlighting a dispute over ownership, release plans and the intended use of the verse.
