In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering adolescent girls and young women, Yaba College of Technology, UNICEF and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) have joined forces to launch the Girls’ Education and Skills Partnership (GESP). This innovative program seeks to enhance access to skills and economic opportunities, equipping young women with the tools they need to thrive in today’s world.
Kicking off this ambitious endeavor is the Course Design Workshop (CDW) to Develop Gender-Responsive Learning Resources as Open Education Resources (OERs) organized by Yaba College of Technology. Spearheaded by UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited initiative, the workshop is set to revolutionize educational resources tailored specifically for girls.

The workshop, which boasts a diverse array of participants, will focus on designing and developing learning resources geared towards enhancing market-relevant skills for girls aged 13-24. From GSM and mobile phone repairs to computer hardware maintenance and web application development, these courses are designed to equip girls with the tools they need to succeed in the digital age.
Integral to the workshop is the integration of gender-responsive pedagogy, with facilitators from the UK partner, INASP, leading the charge. Participants will delve into the gender-inclusive LARAS learning design template, ensuring that the resources developed are tailored to meet the unique needs of girls. The gender-inclusive LARAS learning design template has been designed by the Yabatech and INASP team.
