The North East chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Parliament, has warned the party against replacing the Vice President, Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential ticket, saying it will divide the party.
The group during a town hall meeting held at the Destination Hotel, Bauchi over the weekend, said that: “We want to state it unequivocally clear that, any attempt to reconfigure the joint ticket of His Excellency, Bola Ahmad Tinubu/Kashim Shettima in 2027 will only bring resentment that could linger beyond the elections with its negative reverberation which could trigger with the party’s success.
According to the the Chairman of group, Alhaji Kabiru Garba Kobi while speaking during the meeting, “It’s far from being hidden that the ghost of the previous actions of PDP is the one still haunting the party in the country, today – History has only little patience for those who choose to ignore its lessons,” the Chairman of group, Alhaji Kabiru Garba Kobi said while speaking.
“The meeting have noted with utmost dismay and consternation that, tension is rising within our party-the APC and it signals a brewing storm that could shake the foundation of this giant party ahead of 2027 elections. A house once built on mutual understanding, unity and shared ambition now stands at the precipice of discord, with visible cracks threatening its very stability. Whereas: history has shown that, political parties no matter how strong, risk implosion when internal struggle go unchecked.
He stated that “Events unfolding in the recent where some mischievous elements and vested interests group are creating and weaponizing discontent within the conduit of the party by doctoring conspiracy theory with the sole aim to substitute His Excellency, Kashim Shettima serve as an early warning a symptom of much deeper fractures that could widen with time to consume off the party.
“It is unfortunate that, murmurs of descent have continued to grow louder dominating all political spheres which amplifies the speculation surrounding the fate of Vice president; Kashim Shettima. For APC, rumour of dropping a key figure from the party’s leadership structure “If thicken” is akin to stripping a man of his clothes naked in the market square-such a nasty and covert move will inevitably be met with peace, resistance by all well meaning citizens, not only those within the fold of our giant party.

The group said that it believed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is worthy of trust who come with lofty visions of rescuing the country from the shackles of bad governance, fragile economic policies and excessive greed.
“We saw and appreciated the way he emphasised the need for difficult decisions, confronting economic realities, which may cause temporary discomfort but are essential for long term stability and stealth growth. Therefore, we all see the need to rally round our support behind them to build for a country with all it takes to compete with others in growth at all ramifications.”
The various speakers at the occasion declared their support and endorsed the Tinubu/Kashim ticket in 2027 , saying that “we will continue to promote this. This is because the ticket is tested and trusted by all.”
