Popular Gospel Singer Bunmi ‘Omije Oju Mi’ Akinnaanu Dies

Popular gospel singer and evangelist, Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Bunmi Omije Ojumi, is dead, reports thegazellenews.com

This medium learnt that news of her death was broken on Tuesday, 13 January, 2026 by fellow gospel artiste, Alayo Melody.

Melody shared a family statement on Instagram alongside a photo of the late singer and a video showing her remains in a body bag.

According to the statement by the family, Bunmi Akinnaanu reportedly died on Monday, 12 January, 2026, in a hospital based in Lagos.

Bunmi Omije Ojumi was known in Christian music circles for her deep worship songs, including ‘Omije Oju Mi’ and ‘O Ti Sure’

The musician, who abandoned her banking career for music had been reportedly sick before she breathed her last.

Thegazellenews.com reports further that ‘Omije Oju Mi’ died from a prolonged illness associated with her leg.

She had publicly called for prayers and divine healing over the leg ailment.

A video of ‘Omije Oju mi’ had surfaced online from a church service at G. F. David Ministries in Ibadan where she was seen seated with her leg stretched out while prayers were offered in 2025.

During the service, a cleric disclosed that the singer had been experiencing persistent bleeding in her leg, prompting intense prayers for healing.
