
The funeral rites for former Chairman of Alimoso Local Government and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sir Ayo Akinyemi begin on Wednesday, 21 January, 2026, reports thegazellenews.com
The burial programmes are put together by the six council Chairmen in Alimoso Federal Constituency: Ibrahim Akinpelu Johnson, Alimoso Local Government; Jimoh Abiodun Ishola, Agbado-Okeodo Local Council Development Area; Agbaje Abiodun Lukman, Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA; Idris Oluomo Balogun, Egbe-Idimu LCDA; Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, Igando-Ikotun LCDA; and Adunni Opeyemi Akindele, Mosan-Okunola LCDA.

The burial events are being organised by six Vice Chairmen of the aforementioned councils.
Thegazellenews.com had earlier reported that the late Sir Akinyemi popularly called ‘AA’ by his admirers died on Wednesday, 10 December, 2025 at a Lagos hospital.
He was elected Chairman of the old Alimoso Local Government on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and served between 1999 and 2002.
According to the programmes released by the burial committee, the burial programme begins with a Service of Songs and Christian Wake Keep on Wednesday, 21 January, 2026 at the secretariat of Alimoso Local Government, Bada Street, Akowonjo, Lagos.
On Thursday, 22 January, 2026, the lying-in-state will take place at St. Paul’s Church, Breadfruit 10, Davies Street, Lagos Island at 10am.
The funeral service takes place at the same church immediately after the lying-in-state.
On Sunday, 25 January, 2026, the outing service will take place at St. Paul’s Church, Breadfruit 10, Davies Street, Lagos Island.
