The Anambra State Commissioner for Sports Development, Mr Patrick Aghamba and his wife who were kidnapped in Kogi State on Friday, 16 August, 2024, have regained their freedom.
They were abducted by yet-to-be identified gunmen while on their way to Abuja to attend the wedding of Anambra’s Gov Chukwuma Soludo’s daughter’s wedding on Saturday, 17 August, 2024.
The gunmen were reported to have shot and killed the Commissioner’s aide who had accompanied the couple on the journey.
No official comment has come from the state government either about the kidnap or the reported release of the victims.
No mention was made about how their release was achieved.
Sadly the incident took some shine off the weekend wedding.
Other attendees were said to have invaded and overbooked all Abuja bound flights from Anambra airport Umuleri, Enugu and Asaba airports by those going for the wedding, especially when the news of Aghamba’s abduction broke out.
The cheering news of their release was broken by an official of the state government who pleaded not to be named.
The white wedding of the Governor’s daughter whose traditional wedding was performed about a fortnight ago at Isuofia, Aguata council of Anambra at Soludo’s country home, was held on Saturday, 17 August, 2024 in Abuja.
It was indeed a gathering of who is who in Nigeria.
