Abiodun Commissions Ultra-modern Fire Stations

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has commissioned an Ultra-Modern Fire and Safety Services Station, so as mitigate the incidences of fire disaster in the State.

Commissioning the Fire Stations in Ifo and Agbara, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, Prince Abiodun noted that the initiative was in line with Social Well-being and Welfare mantra of his administration, noting that the areas were critical to the economy of the State and all hands must be on desk to forestall loss of lives and property.

Gov. Abiodun, according to the Press Officer, Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mr. Segun Owotomo, said that “Ifo and Agbara are very important and one of the major assets to Ogun because of its population and location as one of the border communities to Lagos.

And this administration will continue to give priority to execution of people-oriented projects in this Local Government Area. I assure you of more capital projects that will enhance commercial activities and improve the standard of living of the people. I assure you of more dividend of democracy.”

In her remarks, the state Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mrs. Olufemi-Ilori Oduntan, hailed the Governor for keeping his electoral promises to the people of the State, stating that the new Fire Stations were part of the newly constructed Fire Stations by the administration in the last three and half years.

Oduntan added that the construction of the Station was conceived to ensure prompt and swift response to fire accidents and stem the tide of avoidable loss of lives and property, especially within the areas that were known for high trading activities adding that five fire fighting vehicles and other equipment were also procured, to further enhance the activities of fire fighters.

She stated, “since the beginning of this administration under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun, four Fire Stations were constructed in Ifo, Agbara, Isheri, and Mowe. Similarly, five fire fighting vehicles and equipment were also procured”.

The Commissioner added that the State government recruited over 150 personnel at the same period, to strengthen the workforce within the State Fire and Safety Service, at ensuring a more effective response to fire disasters and other emergencies.

In his remark, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo said that the provision of facilities would forestall loss of lives and property as a result of unforeseen circumstances resulting from fire outbreak.

On his part, the Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Musa  who appreciated the Governor for the laudable achievements recorded in the State so far, described the fire stations as long awaited project, saying it would help in curbing fire disaster in the area.

Also speaking, the Director of the State Fire and Safety Service, Mr. Fatai Adefala said the construction of the fire stations would make a response to fire disasters and other emergencies faster, noting that the four stations were well equipped with sophisticated fire fighting vehicles and other gadgets.
