The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye  has commended the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for its continued investment in sports infrastructure ahead of the inaugural National Intermediate Games in September 2026.

Speaking during the inspection of sporting facilities across the state, including the ongoing rehabilitation of Teslim Balogun Stadium, He expressed is happiness over the progress being made, particularly the completed natural grass football pitch and ongoing work on the tartan track.

Grassroots sports can not thrive without quality infrastructure. These facilities provide young athletes with the opportunity to discover their talents, develop their abilities, and progress towards elite competition.

He stated that the National Intermediate Games is a platform provided as an important pathway for emerging athletes between grassroots competitions and elite sports.

“I commend the leadership of the National Sports Commission and the Lagos State Government for this collaboration. Together, we can build a stronger sporting system and create opportunities for the next generation of Nigerian champions. ” He revealed.

“The National Intermediate Games is not just about winning medals. It is about building the next generation. If we get the foundation right, the champions will come.”

Adeboye concluded.
